Intro-LUDE Extended

Adri w/ HeadphonesAdrimarie.

I hail in the golden land of endless summers, California, USA. To be more specific, I dwell at a suburb known as a “gateway” to the very techie-trendy-savvy Silicon Valley in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was born in the Philippines and lived there for my first 10 years of my life. The year after the 1986 EDSA/People Power Revolution, my father’s immigration visa application was finally approved and the family and I immigrated to the U.S. Just with that event alone, I think you can all guess my real age as of today. I haven’t been back to the old country since 1988.

I see myself as ambitious and adventurous, willing to try different things and challenges while learning a lot new things I’ve never known generally or something unusual. I am a hopeless romantic and I love to talk and write about them in fictionalized format. However as of real life, I’m not desperate. I leave it up to God and fate whether I will one day find a true love of my own. If I end up dying an old maid, then so be it. In short, I’m single, not desperately looking, but I love making new friends while trying to keep my old and current ones1. What happiness would you ever want over the company of friendships?

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual & Media Communications. I love art and designing, though I know I don’t have enough skills to consider myself a “true” artist. My dream career is to be a web designer, either working for a designing firm2 or establish my own web designing firm. At that moment I’m settling for part-time freelancing while earning money enough for me to be a full-time freelancer. Sadly I’m one of those unlucky unemployment victims in this country today and still searching for a full-time job.3 With that I plan to go small by doing some minor freelance work in order to keep up with my current skills while learning new standards in digital designing.4

I also hope that one day I would be able to go back to school and earn my Master’s Degree, hopefully in digital designing5 or with information technology. At the moment I’m self-learning with many things, but with little time and sometimes enthusiasm, it’s still difficult to learn everything in one setting.

I still live with my family and a family of6 cats. With the current situation right now I don’t think I’ll ever own my own place. Then again it sorta doesn’t help when I’m very close-knit to my family.7

I consider myself a linguist somewhat. Other than English, I speak/read/write Filipino/Tagalog8, Spanish and Japanese9. I’m not one of those (personal) bloggers who declare their ethnicity and then claim that they know/read/write their native language and then say that they “refuse to speak it.” If I had to write in Filipino/Tagalog, Japanese or Spanish in one of my entries then I’ll surely will10.

I love food. I don’t know if I should call myself a foodie or not but I love everything about food: the history of the dish, the origins of the dish, the ingredients, how it was prepared, etc. etc. I write my food reviews at my Yelp! account regularly. :)
