(Not-So-F)AQ

Here are some (not-so) frequently asked question not being asked on my Formspring account. A few of them were actually been asked from my previous sites, however I’m putting these questions here in case they may be asked. :)

Questions and answers will be updated from time to time when necessary.

General

How long have you been active in the internet?

Since college years. That would be sometime over 10 years ago. I started getting “online” by being active at the old IRC chats and BBS forums. The rest is history. :D

What was your very first scratch-built website?

A Dragonball Z/GT fan fiction website hosted by Geocities. Fanfiction.net wasn’t even born yet.

Where did you get the name “ADRIATASTIC” come from?

The entire explanation is located in the About section of the blog. It’s a made-up term meaning something that’s highly related to me as a person, from interests to other topics that I can easily relate to. Whenever I find them, I write and showcase them right here. :)

Why did you put your personal site/blog as a subdomain rather than the main domain itself?

ADRIMARIE.us, the main domain, is my (professional) digital design portfolio and (technology) blog. The “Adrimarie” part of the URL is meant to be a brand name of all my designs and projects.

How come you don’t have any ____ section for your visitors like most personal sites/blogs do?

Why? Are my writings from blog entries, articles to stories and my Haiku/pseudo-Haiku poetry not enough for you?

I may offer some freebies but they won’t be on this site. It’ll probably be on my portfolio.

What are your favorite quotes and sayings?

Don’t hate, appreciate!

Be careful what you wish for because it may come true.

Rhythm is life and life is rhythm.
— NATE DOGG & WARREN G – “Regulators”

That’s all I could think of at the moment. :D

Do you believe in true love?

Yes I do. What I don’t believe is that you can’t be happy without a love of your own. Why be miserable for something you don’t have when you can be happy with what you have right now? :)

Being a long-time anime fan, what were some of the anime shows did you first see?

My first exposure to anime was during my childhood years in the 80s when I used to live in the Philippines. I was first exposed to the Super Robot Wars genre that were produced by great anime producer and manga artist Go Nagai. He created/produced Voltes V, DaimosMechander Robo, Mazinger Z, Steel Jeeg, to name a few. I was also a huge fan of 80s anime, namely Voltron, Macross/Robotech, and Saber Rider and the Starsheriffs.

U.S. TV stopped airing anime during the early 90s and there was no easy access to anime for me until I started college/university, when I first started taking Japanese language classes. From my classmates in Japanese class, I rediscovered anime, in addition to getting in to various video games for video game consoles such as the SNES, Sega Genesis, etc., as well as J-Pop and J-dramas. Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, Kimagure Orange Road and Tench Muyo! were the first four anime that I got re-exposed.

Web Design and Development

How long have you been building websites?

As of 2012, about 14-15 years now. Wow. (1997 or 1998)

What part of web designing and development did you find difficult in learning?

Everything, to be honest. Although back then, HTML4 was the standard, I had to learn CSS and eventually XHTML when they first came to the web designing mainstream. I’m also not a computer science major, nor have I taken any basic computer science class for me to learn new programming languages such as C, Java, Javascript, etc. Nowadays it seems that web development languages such as Javascript, PHP, Ruby, Python, CGI, AJAX, etc. are also required for web designers to learn now. Today, I still have yet to learn the core templating using WordPress, and of course, responsive web design.

What were the domain names you used to own back then?

  • balamb-epitaph.net – a small Final Fantasy VIII shrine to Balamb Garden, the school/institution where they educate and train future SeeD warriors.
  • ellone-loire.net – my first collective, mostly Final Fantasy and other video game shrines.
  • lindblum.net – my solo domain solely dedicated to Final Fantasy IX shrines.
  • kinomoto.nu – anime/manga character shrine, mostly Card Captor Sakura-related.
  • funyaraga.nu – very first personal domain.
  • amnos.net – for almost six years, I have had this domain name, which is a complete fansite dedicated to my (still) favorite J-Pop male group, ARASHI.
  • akaliane.net – my second personal domain.
  • lyokogeniuses.org – a forum community (and other websites) dedicated to the French animated series Code Lyoko.
  • adriatastic.net – my third personal domain, where my current blog is hosted.

Keep in mind that none of these domains are listed in any order. These are the ones that I remembered I used to own. There were probably more but the ones before were probably inactive and never came to life. Ever.

Do you ever plan on learning programming soon?

I’m currently taking a few open source/free web courses in various languages. Unfortunately I’m still stuck with the first few basics. Maybe I need to take some logic class as well.

Writing and Blogging

Will you be posting any of your creative writing anytime soon?

I already did. Check the PROJECTS section at the above menu. :)

Will you ever get to finish any of the stories you’ve written?

When my interest and creative juices start to pick up again, for sure. Sadly though, it’s really unlikely at the moment. ^^;

How long have you been writing/blogging?

Blogging, around 10 years. Writing in general, not including school assignments and college research papers, I would say close to 20 years from my creative writing hobby, starting from short stories, fan fiction and eventually fiction. I actually started writing short (and noobish) stories back in 6th grade in locked diaries. They’re long gone, by the way.

Now all I have to learn is to actually finish these stories. :D

Can I redistribute/repost some of your blog entries and articles?

You can, but be sure to link back to my site as the original source.

For Technorati and Blogcritics articles, you will have to use the original links coming from those sites, rather than copying/pasting the entire article and repost them in your site or elsewhere.

I get really irritated and twitchy whenever I see some goon messing with me by playing the horrid plagiarism game.
